Arturo, propriétaire d’une galerie d’art à Buenos Aires, expose régulièrement Renzo, un peintre excentrique, insupportable et en panne d'inspiration. Entre le marchand sans scrupules et la gloire déchue des années 1980, l'amitié est chaotique. Un jour, Renzo est victime d’un accident et perd la mémoire. Profitant de cette situation, Arturo élabore un plan osé pour le faire revenir sur le devant de la scène artistique. En attendant, la maîtresse de Renzo, désespérée, veut un signe de lui. Un jeune homme avec dreadlocks arrive dans son atelier, prêt à se sacrifier pour devenir «son disciple»...
